Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution in India is in charge of BIS, which sets quality standards for products and grants BIS Certification for a specific number of products. A BIS hallmarking is for consumer goods like electronics, jewellery made of Gold, silver, etc., and other similar things. It means that the product has been tested for its quality, its durability, and, in the case of jewellery, its purity of materials. Indian Standards Institution (ISI) ISI is the certificate scheme under BIS . Since 1950, it has been a mark of quality for industrial products in India. It is mandatory for 90 products and advisory for others . As per the present scenario ISI is a department which comes under the supervision of BIS.
